Church Music Corner › 6th Sunday after Easter 2025 [loc-000T]
Exáudi, Dómine, vocem meam, qua clamávi ad te, allelúia: tibi dixit cor meum, quæsívi vultum tuum, vultum tuum Dómine requíram: ne avértas fáciem tuam a me, allelúia, allelúia.
With the start of winter heralded by a very misty and chilly morning, our choir at All Saints Ainslie was nonetheless in full numbers and good voice today, performing Stainer's classic God so loved the world, from his oratorio The Crucifixion, with lyrics from the Gospel of John:
God so loved the world, God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, That whoso believeth, believeth in Him Should not perish, should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through him the world might be saved. God so loved the world, God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, That whoso believeth, believeth in Him Should not perish, should not perish but have everlasting life. Everlasting life, everlasting life. God so loved the world. God so loved the world.
I also attended Evensong again at St. Paul's Manuka. It wasn't BCP unfortunately, but the choir was quite good this time, performing the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis from the Evening Service in B♭ by Charles V. Stanford. The anthem was also a Stanford motet, Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem.
