Church Music Corner › Feast of St. Matthew 2026 [loc-005L]
Today I returned to my usual All Saints Ainslie in the morning where we sang Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus under my (metaphorical) baton:
Ave verum corpus natum de María Vírgine; Hail, true body, born of the Virgin Mary; Vere passum, immolátum in cruce pro hómine; True suffering, sacrificed on the cross for Man; Cuius latus perforátum unda fluxit et sánguine From whose pierced side flowed waves of blood, Esto nobis prægustátum in mortis examine. Be for us a foretaste in death's trial.
I'm still annoyed by the anticipation of the feast day, but I don't think the rector is movable on this subject.
