This week there's not much to report work-wise: Kai Phan and I are working hard on our upcoming FoSSaCS submission, which is exciting stuff! It's nice to see a paper coming together.

We (being Coro) performed to a sizeable but not sold-out crowd for our second concert of the year, Cloudburst.

I really enjoyed working with our guest director, Roland Peelman, and it was great to have the opportunity to sing Tallis' Lamentations of Jeremiah (Part 1 and Part 2).

The full programme is outlined in this review from Jacqui Smith at classikON.
What a treat to hear a new choir (for me) performing such a profound and deeply moving program, with excellent artistic programming, pace and delivery. I can’t wait to hear what they sing next.
There was also a more nitpicky review on CityNews.
I'll likely be singing again with a subset of Coro for a special Christmas concert. Stay tuned!

This morning I was groggy after a night at the German club after my Cloudburst concert had wrapped up, but still cantored at All Saints Ainslie in a duet with our director Alasdair, singing Dering's Duo Seraphin:
Duo séraphim clamábant alter ad álterum: Two seraphs cry out one after another: Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus, Deus Sabaoth Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of Hosts Plena est omnis terra glória eius. All the earth is full of his glory.
We also came together in the evening with the rest of the choir to sing Evensong. I think we sang exceptionally well but only seven or so people came to hear it. We sang Stainer's Hail, Gladdening Light as usual, as well as Phillip Moore's third service for the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis. For the preces and responses, we used Jack Oades' lovely setting. The anthem was John Goss' O Saviour of the World:
O Saviour of the world, who by thy Cross and precious Blood hast redeemed us: Save us, and help us, we humbly beseech thee, O Lord. Amen.
I'm still annoyed by the anticipation of the feast day, but I'll never get my way here.
